Care and longevity of candle:
Burn the candle until the wax melts across the entire surface, up to the edge of the jar, on first burn. This could take 2-4 hours depending on the vessel.
Leaving a long candlewick creates a larger flame, which burns more wax.
Trimming the candlewick to a quarter inch prolongs the candle's life by allowing it to burn evenly and steadily.
Burn you candle in a cool environment, away from direct sunlight and hot rooms to allow an even dispersion of scent from the candle.
Also burn away from air conditioning or a breezy door - this could make your candle burn smoke.
To clean soot off your jar - extinguish the flame and wait for the wax to harden. Dampen a paper towel or cloth in water and gently rub off the dark spots.
If your wick drowns in the wax - Extinguish the burning candle. Fold a paper towel so it fits in the jar. Avoiding the hot, extinguished wick, dip the paper towel in the wax pool. Let the paper towel absorb the wax for 5-10 seconds. Relight the candle and you'll notice an improved flame.
Sometimes a wax candle can slightly change colour after lighting. This is normal and due to the ultraviolet effects of light and oxidisation.
